Capability Statement Design

The document that gets past procurement.

The document that gets you past procurement and onto the shortlist, built so past performance swaps per bid. Fixed price, source files yours.

A capability statement is read by somebody with a stack of them and a shortlist to cut. They are not reading for pleasure and they are not reading all of it. They are checking whether you qualify, and how fast they can confirm it.

Who it is for — pick yours

The reader decides in minutes. Certifications, past performance, and differentiators have to be findable at a glance - the THRISK statement below leads with exactly what a procurement reader scans for.

So the document is built modular: the past-performance spread swaps per bid without touching the rest, and without a designer in the loop. That is a structure decision made on day one.

The one-page federal format has its place, but cramming a whole firm onto it is how statements go unread. If you need more room, take it - the format scales from 4 to 28 pages.

What it costs

Published, not quoted on request.

Content is not a question here either. Certifications, codes, past performance, and point of contact are all facts only you hold, and a designer inventing them would be worse than a plain document.

Every card opens the actual document — cover, inside spreads, back. Arrow through them; each caption says what that spread is doing.

Before you ask

The questions that come up.

If yours is not here, send it and you get a straight answer in writing.

Ask about your project

It can be. The one-page format suits federal contracting where the reader expects it. Longer versions of 8 to 28 pages suit private-sector bids and prequalification packs where you have room to show past performance. Tell me which world you are bidding in and I will tell you which you need.

That is exactly why you get the source file. Past performance and point of contact change per bid, and paying a designer every time is absurd. The layout is built so those blocks swap without the page falling apart.

I know how to make a document scannable, which is the design half. The compliance half, the codes, certifications, and registration numbers that matter in your sector, is yours. I will lay out exactly what you give me and I will not guess at a code.

Not the right one? Documents that get you taken seriously covers everything in editorial design.
