From zero to one million:four years building a surgeon's brand

In 2022 Professor Dr. SMG Kibria had no social media, no website, and a basic Google Business Profile. Four years of consistent work by my agency later, he has over one million Facebook followers, 207K YouTube subscribers, and 20 to 40 million monthly views — all organic — and a foundation built on that reach.

This is the longest-running client story my agency, Bear My Brand, has — and the one I point to when a doctor asks whether digital branding is worth the patience it takes. It ran four years before the headline numbers existed. Most of what follows is about what happened during those four years.

Where it started

Professor Dr. SMG Kibria is a General, Vascular and Laparoscopic Surgeon with nearly forty years of experience — British-trained, formerly at Labaid, Evercare, and United Hospital, now practicing at Lake View Clinic in Gulshan-2, Dhaka. In 2022, none of that was visible online.

No Facebook page. No YouTube channel. No website. A basic Google Business Profile doing around two to three thousand views and ten to fifteen calls a month. A surgeon at the top of his field, findable only by people who already knew his name.

What we built

  • A Facebook page as the primary channel. Educational posts and video, in the voice of a doctor explaining rather than advertising.
  • A YouTube channel in Bangla and English. Patient-education video — the format that compounds, because a video answering a health question keeps answering it for years.
  • Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn, each fed from the same content engine rather than run as separate jobs.
  • A professional website with local SEO. I built the site itself hand-coded, so it loads fast and carries the credentials properly.
  • The Google Business Profile, run properly. Photos, services, posts, and a review strategy — the owner-view numbers are on this site.

All of it organic. No follower purchases, no paid inflation — which is slower, and is also the only version of these numbers that means anything.

The middle, where most people quit

Somewhere in the middle of those four years, the growth was happening but slowly, and Dr. Kibria hit the wall every long project has. He is a surgeon — a man who makes precise decisions and sees precise results. The gradual pace of brand building genuinely frustrated him, and he questioned whether it was working at all.

Our answer was the only honest one: keep doing the job. Stay consistent, stay quality, and the result will come — not tomorrow, but it will come. He believed us, and he kept going. That decision, more than any tactic, is why the numbers above exist.

The hardest part of building a brand is not strategy or execution. It is surviving the period after the initial excitement fades and before the results are visible. Most people quit there. The ones who do not are the ones who win.

What the map listing did on its own

The Google Business Profile alone went from two to three thousand views a month to 56,026 views, 16,598 search appearances, and 176 reviews at 4.7 stars — figures read off the owner view, screenshot included. For a practice, that listing is the front door; the social channels are what make people look for it by name.

December 2025: what the brand made possible

On 16 December 2025 — Bangladesh's Victory Day — Dr. Kibria founded the SMG Kibria Foundation, a non-profit doctor consultation center in Dhaka, with the stated dream of one day building a hospital. We built the foundation's website too — it is in the website work on this site.

Nobody planned that in 2022. But a doctor with a million followers does not just attract patients — he attracts supporters, donors, and collaborators. The online brand became the platform for a real-world mission, which is a better return than any metric in the table above.

What this teaches, if you are a doctor reading it

  • Expertise alone is not enough. The most qualified doctor in the city still loses patients to the one who can be found.
  • Consistency beats virality. There were no overnight explosions in this story. Steady, quality work, month after month, for four years.
  • Content compounds. Videos made in 2022 are still bringing new patients today.
  • The brand creates opportunities you did not plan for. Nobody set out to found a healthcare non-profit. The reach made it possible.

Bear My Brand published the full story on its own site: the original case study. On this site, the pieces I can show are the website work and Business Profile results, the Google Business Profile management behind those numbers, and the comment automation that keeps the channels answerable at this scale.

A General, Vascular and Laparoscopic Surgeon in Bangladesh with nearly forty years of experience. British-trained, formerly at Labaid, Evercare, and United Hospital, now at Lake View Clinic in Gulshan-2, Dhaka, and founder of the SMG Kibria Foundation.

Four years, from a standing start in 2022. The first stretch was slow enough that the client seriously questioned it — the honest version of every organic growth story. The compounding came later, and then it came fast.

No. All of it is organic — no follower purchases, no engagement buying. That is slower, and it is also why the audience converts: these are real people who chose to follow a doctor whose content helped them.
